Another epic fantasy from Michael J. Sullivan creator of THE RIYRIA REVELATIONS
Thank you!
Thank you for your interest in The First Empire Series. We are planning on a number of cool things for the release of this series and we appreciate your interest in these stories.
Thanks! I’m excited for another series by you! If the final artwork is anything like the above then it will be spectacular! Question: Why do you have a New Zealand website?(http://www.riyria.blogspot.co.nz/) It’s curious, I thought you lived in America?
Glad to hear it. I do think they’ll come out well. As to the New Zealand website – that must be something automatic through blogspot I do live in America and didn’t set it up. Didn’t even know about it until I read this 😉
I’m going to end up purchasing an extra copy for our library of every book. Our scifi/fantasy section is pitiful! Trust me, I’m working on it. Thank you for contributing. Please consider a book donation to our library. Meanwhile I’m eagerly awaiting anything new by you. Great work, great editing, great reads. Don’t ever give up.
I just finished Hollow World, and loved it. I’m so pleased to see it so popular. So I’ve caught up with your books. Now I’ll dig for short stories until this new series arrives. 🙂
Thank you for being open to your readers and allowing nearly anyone the opportunity to do more than simply read your books as they come out. It makes you stand out among others in your genre.
I will always endeavor to “keep up the great work.” Writing is my favorite thing to do, and I won’t release a book that I don’t think is worthy of my reader’s time.
Thanks for this opportunity. I am extremely excited about this new series. I always love reading your writings and delving into the story. Always great to read your posts online as well. Keep up the awesome job.
Since the books won’t be published until they are all written (I really like this by the way), what do you foresee the timeline to be on their releases?
Well, if they were being self-published (which to be honest is how I thought they were going to come out) then I would have control over such things. But Random House’s Del Rey imprint has made me an amazing offer so they will be doing the publishing and the timing is “their call.” We are still nailing down the various details, and as soon as I know I’ll post about it, but for now the only thing I know for sure is the first book is scheduled for the “Summer of 2016”. Regardless of when they release the books, I’ll have the flexibility to put out other titles, “around their releases” so if the spacing is far apart, I’ll fill in with books from Riyria Chronciles, Hollow World, or some new projects. If they are “close” then I’ll put out those other books after theirs are out.
I’m quite amazed with your closeness to your fans. My wife emailed you about your books because she loved them so much. when she got your reply, she acted like my twin 4 year olds at Christmas! Awesome
I LOVE living in a time where such interactions are possible. Glad to hear your wife was excited. I’m just as excited when I get email from readers as she gets when getting a response from me 😉
I am so anxious for your new books, I’m dying to know who the characters will be and their personalities. You have a writing style unlike any other writer I have ever seen, it is more like a story where you are right alongside the characters and you actually feel as if you know the characters. Thank you so much!
p.s. I was just wondering if you were going to continue with some more of the Riyria Chronicles books. I’m kind of starting to miss Hadrian and Royce.
Hey thanks – I’m excited as well. As to more Riyria Chronicles – I’m definitely looking to have a third one – If all goes well, it will be released this year. We’ll see 😉
I am oh so very thrilled to have this series come out! Can’t wait to go on adventures with your new characters and fall in love with a new piece of your work. Thank you immensely!!
I can’t wait to read these. Wish I could go forward in time to when they’re all published so I can read them all at once without stopping. Thankyou for writing more.
So glad you enjoyed the reads. Have you read the other Riyria books? I’m talking about The Crown Tower and The Rose and the Thorn. I ask because I’m going to be releasing the sequel to Rose later this year. So not only do you have a whole new series coming soon from Del Rey, but you also have a new Royce and Hadrian tale as well.
I really like how the new series is coming out. I’m in editing right now on book #3 and a harsh critic so the fact that I’m liking them as much as I do bodes well.
Hi Michael. Thanks again for emailing me abut a month ago regarding more Rhyria books. I was thrilled & honored. Can’t WAIT for Age of Myths release date for Audible, my eyes go whacky when I try to read, so it has to be an audible book. TGR is the best I’ve ever heard. Ever. I hope I can be picked to review anything, etc etc. yr my fav author, & happy belated BD! ❌⭕️ Sorry-too long- again. 😬🙃
A lot of excitement is growing for Age of Myth. I’m hoping it will be well loved. TGR is THE BEST! Listen to anything he reads…you’ll not be disappointed.
Sorry for the noob question but what does TGR mean?
I just read Age of Myth and it was so so good. I am now going to plough through the Riyria books.
Oh, sorry. TGR stands for Tim Gerard Reynolds, the narrator for the nine Riyria books and the first Age of Myth story. Glad you enjoyed Age of Myth and are excited about the Riyria tales. I hope you like them as well.
Thanks Michael. I feel dumb that I spelled Riyria wrong on my last email. O also put a link to Age of Myth on my FB page telling all about you, the Riyria Revelations & Chronicles, telling of my love for that dynamic duo, & singing yr praises, just FYI. I’m hoping to stir interest, esp in the audible books for obvious reasons. TGR brings the story to life so much better. Thx again, Leigh
No worries! There are probably a dozen spellings for Riyria, and I’m fine with them all! If I had known the series would be so successful, I would have come up with a better name 😉
I dearly love your Ryiera series, which I’ve listened to 2 or 3 times on Audible, and am now almost finished with Age of Myth, which I dearly love! I thank you, Mr. Sullivan, for your imaginative writings, which provide a needed escape from what, at times, can be a stressful, painful world. God’s love via His Word and His power are my first place of ease and strength, and your novels are lots of times the second place I’ll run to. Also, Mr. Gerard, the voice of Ryiera, does an equally awesome job on Age of Myth. Keep them coming, Mr. Sullivan! Looking forward to the release of the second novel in the Rhune series…soon!
Thanks Trish. Yes, Tim Gerard Reynolds is so great. I’m glad you find the books a respite. We all need to have a break from time to time and I’m thrilled that my books are an enjoyable place for you to visit.
ok, 100% written obviously doesn’t mean they are going to be published at the same time*sigh* so when can we expect book 2?
I have read (hmm listened to) the Chronicles and the Revelations twice. I absolutely love ALL of those books. I love TGR! Royce and Hadrian are wonderful characters and the books have just the right amount of fun, sadness, excitement and suspense!
The Age of Myth series started really well and I can’t wait for the second audio book, but I would love more from the Chronicles as well.
Thanks for writing such enjoyable stories..because at the end of the day that is what an Author is, a storyteller:)
Well, when I did that for Riyria – it did mean that…But those books were already published in the past through self, so there wasn’t much work to do once Orbit picked them up. So, with regard to THIS series, yes there is a lot to occur between written and fully edited. I just wrote a post on that.
Currently book #2 is scheduled for Summer of 2017. Once I know more about its release date I’ll post here.
As for more Chronicles…I HAVE decided to write a fourth in that series. Just have to figure out when I should start it.
You are very welcome for the stories…I’m thankful that people like listening to them 😉
Thanks!
You are very welcome.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to this new series!
So am I!
You are very welcome.
Excited to see what you come up with !
I think you’ll enjoy it. That is the hope at least.

Thank you for this exciting opportunity!
You are very welcome.
Fingers crossed. Thank you for the opportunity and happy belated birthday.
You are very welcome – and thanks for the birthday wishes.
Hopefully I can win this!
Well someone has to win!
Happy belated birthday and thank you for being so generous!
Thanks…and you are welcome.
I can’t wait for a whole new series. The artwork looks stunning. Happy birthday several days too late.
Hey thanks! The artwork is “placeholders” but I’m hoping the finals will look somewhat similar.
Didn’t even know about it until I read this 😉
Thanks you so much!!! I got really excited when i found out about this!
Glad to hear it!
Really enjoy your books, and especially your characters- they end up feeling like old friends. Looking forward to the new series!
Thanks so much. I’m pretty excited with how this story is coming out.
You are very kind. Thank you!
I just finished Hollow World, and loved it. I’m so pleased to see it so popular. So I’ve caught up with your books. Now I’ll dig for short stories until this new series arrives. 🙂
Hey thanks. I’m so glad you have enjoyed the reads.
Thanks! I can’t wait to read this series. Looking forward to a great experience.
You are most welcome. It’s pretty exciting from this side of the fence as well.
The premise is interesting. Looking forward to reading about the new world you’ve created.
Thanks. I think people will really enjoy it.
My patrons and I are all eagerly awaiting all new releases by you. We’ve created quite a buzz lately!
Nice! I’m pretty darn excited myself.
Thank you! I can’t wait to read this series.
You are very welcome. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Thank you, I can’t wait for this book, I’m so, so excited!! Wish it were coming out sooner 😀
Thanks – I’m pretty excited myself 😉
Can’t wait to get started!
It’s going to be exciting…that’s for sure.
Thank you for being open to your readers and allowing nearly anyone the opportunity to do more than simply read your books as they come out. It makes you stand out among others in your genre.
You are very welcome. It is a joy to live in a time when such things are possible.
Thank you. Excited to read this when it comes out!
Me too. I think you’ll like it.
Good luck with everything, I hope it all runs smoothly for you (at least nothing bumpier than cobblestones)!
Thanks. So far things are running very smoothly. Hopefully they’ll keep that way.
thanks! Can’t wait 🙂
You are welcome.
The anticipation is killing me.. 🙂 Looking forward to another one of your series that inspires my imagination. Keep up the great work Michael.
I will always endeavor to “keep up the great work.” Writing is my favorite thing to do, and I won’t release a book that I don’t think is worthy of my reader’s time.
Big thanks, I hope to get this book😊
You are welcome.

Why thank you…and you are most welcome.
Can’t wait! 😀
2016, maybe 2018 in Poland…
I need to lern English 😛
Here’s to hoping…if you send an email to the polish publisher telling him/her about it – I bet the chances will go up considerably.
Thank you, Mr. Sullivan!
Can’t wait! 😀
Me neither!
So excited for new characters to fall in love with! Thanks for making my days a little brighter when I’m “in story”!
You are very welcome – thanks for reading. Writing is its own reward, but hearing that others enjoy what I create makes a good thing even better 😉
congratulations!!!
Thank you!
Love your work, the Riyria are among my favorite books.
Thank you! I’ve really enjoyed writing them.
Thanks Michael. Rock on!
You are very welcome
Really looking forward to reading this book, and jealous of those who’ve already had beta reads
>…<
Keep up the good work Michael!
Thank you! And the beta readers have been great. If you want to get on future beta reads – send an email to first.empire.beta@gmail.com
Thanks for this! Love your work!

I am so anxious for the release of these works, as I have read and will read everything you publish. Can’t wait for the next book.
Thank you so much! I’m excited as well.

That would be great. But time travel is the subject of my book Hollow World. In THIS world, we’ll just all have to wait patiently. 😉
I just finished the Riyria trilogy and absolutely loved it! And now I need more… looking forward to Rhune! Thanks for sharing your world with us!

Just so you know, I’d read a census report on Elan if you wrote it.
haha – good to know! Although I’ll try to keep them more interesting than that. I’ll add your vote in the “more please” camp.
Excelente!! Esperando leerlo próximamente.
